We recently hosted some 782 Gear products on our blog – FR Skid Lid hat and WP1 Velocity Softshell jacket so this company is not completely unknown to our readers, though it's still virtually unknown in our country. We present you another product from 782 Gear - Reprieve Jacket, which was developed with the same philosophy as the Velocity – to provide maximum performance with minimum weight and maximum compression.

782 Gear Reprieve Jacket is designed as a thermal insulation layer intended primarily to be worn under outerwear to provide heat but with the possibility of carrying as a stand alone item. It was born as tactical equivaelnt for more and more popular “down sweaters” well known from trekking and hiking sports. Down or loft filled lightweight jackets are popular replacement for fleece as the insulating layer because of low weight, very good insulating properties and great breathability but with better compression.

Jacket outershell is made of very thin and lightweight 1.1oz rip-stop nylon with Schoeller® NanoSphere liquid repellant DWR. Water beads up on the surface and it's quite resistant to wetting out. The nanoparticles in the NanoSphere finish form a fine structure on the textile surface. Water or substances such as oil or ketchup simply run off the NanoSphere surface which is naturally self-cleaning, and any residue can easily be rinsed off with a little water. The NanoSphere coating has a high level of abrasion resistance, and the protective function is retained even with heavy-duty use. The jacket therefore requires less frequent washings at lower temperatures (wash resistance is up to 100 washings). No fabric softener or dryer sheets are to be used. The inside of the Reprieve, its insulating is provided by a micro-fiber Climashield ® APEX Climashield APEX continuous filament insulation is a great choice when you want something highly durable, efficient as it will provide warmth even when wet. There are also stretch panels made out of Polartec ® Powerstretch.

The cut jackets at first glance, is close to well-known M-65 field jacket line - goes back to the user's hip, it's quite fitting and free of unnecessary add-ons that could increase its weight. 782 Gear Reprieve Jacket is fastened to a single coil YKK zipper with additional bottom thin strip of material to prevent accidental tearing. The zipper is sewn along the entire length - from the bottom up to the upper edge of the flange-collar. Collar is about 7 cm height and from the inside is lined with fleece. There are two bottom zippered hand-warmer pockets.

Reprieve Jacket is equipped with a f Polaretc ® Powerstretch fabric is used on the sides of the torso and on the back of the shoulders for unrestricted mobility, and for breathability. They go way up to the relatively long flexible cuffs. Inserts are stretch in four directions, so the jacket fits well into the user's body, although it is closer to the upper limit of the size, the better. Fleece fabric will not block the wind, it has a very good breathability and it won't be great as a standalone jacket in heavy wind.

The minimalist style and the materials together gave a very warm insulating layer which corresponds to the size of the rolled knitted blouse Polartec ® Classic 100. The medium sized jacket weighs only about 120 grams!
